Re: Amines

Those of you that know me well know that I have been going through some personal changes in my life recently. Pending divorce, moving, and all of the work that that entails, setting up a "new" life.

My diet kind of went to hell for a bit there. I've always loved cheeses, and what's quicker than a cheese omelette for dinner? I am an absolute fiend around chocolate. I love pickles, olives, capers, sauerkraut... I even bought some packaged deli meats during this time. Sure, nitrate and nitrite free, but still. I had not had that sort of thing for a while. And, once again, never again.

I started getting headaches behind one eye. And I am not a "headache" person. I got REALLY congested, achy, just felt like crap.

So, long story short... Started googling around, came across the connection between amines and migraine(were those migraines? I dunno...) Looked at lists of amine heavy foods, sure enough, I was overdosing on amines.

Test time. No amines(or, very low, since there are low levels of amines in just about everything). I'm excluding the obviously aged stuff, I'm not excluding any produce I feel like eating:) I feel great again.

I "think" I was just overdoing it. We'll find out.

The most comprehensive source of amine info I've found. This gal has done some work:
