Re: hair loss
I understand about spending lots of time and money on other treatments. That's probably the story of most of us!! I will say, though, that I find the $ I spend for hair retests and the supplements are well worth the progress I'm making. If you can afford it, begin working with a good Dr. Wilson-trained practitioner. Their insights are invaluable, and most of them suffered with severe health problems that healed on the program.
Also, I just did a search of hyperthyroidism (Grave's disease) on his site, and he offers definite hope for that. You've probably read that already. Overall, he doesn't insist on people getting off their meds and let's them decide when to taper off them. So I don't think you would have that kind of pressure. If you did, you could tell him or her that you aren't comfortable doing that.
On a personal note, my husband and I have sluggish thyroids. Mine is pretty severe while his isn't so bad. In fact, when his TSH began to be out of normal, that's when we decided to start him on NB. He has no history of autoimmune disease while I do with celiac so it didn't make sense for his TSH to be high.
He just had his annual bloodwork done and also got hair retest results this week. His thyroid ratio (CA/K) is the best it's ever been. The highest over the last 3 years was 93, and this one was 14.86. On his bloodwork, for the first time ever his TSH was below 1 which probably technically indicates hyper. (Correct me, if I'm wrong.) He has no symptoms of hyper, and often bloodwork will be skewed as the body is healing so we're not worried about that. But I do find it interesting.
Also, he has been dumping copper for months now, and he has a rash on his neck. That rash and fatigue seem to be his main indicators of copper dumps. He's had a few pimples on his face (also copper), but the thyroid gland is in the neck. So again it's interesting that the thyroid function is improving, and copper dumps are coming from the neck area! He has the rash almost continually with it looking worse some days and better others.
