I feel your pain .I wish there was an easy answer to this whole thing .I had no idea these things were so hard to get rid of .Now if we lived alone and didn't have to worry about the cats and dogs and kids and husband it would be a whole lot easier .I am convinced that is why we have had such a tough time getting rid of them. We cant get everyone treated at the same time and get everyone to cooperate .Oh and then you factor in the ones that are "immune" BIG EYE ROLL HERE ,lol.
We actually got rid of our cat about 5 months ago ,six months into this thing .It was a stray and I was very opposed to bringing it into the house .But against my better judgement someone let it in .And we all got sick with a month or so .Now it could be a cooincidence .But this was a first for mites in the dogs ears and we have debated that our whole situation is a cross infection with either pin worms or some type of worm and mites /fleas .Not to mention it costs a fortune for each additional body that needs to be treated be it animal or human .
I cant advocate putting the DE everywhere because it will become air borne .I can only say what worked for us .But I did it and I just tried to not stir it up too much while putting it down .Once its down it will coat EVERYTHING but it wont be constantly floating through the air .It is fairly heavy .So unless you put it in front of the fan you might be okay .Also you could just put it in sellect areas .Such as behind furniture ,under cushions behind the toilets ,around the carpet parimeter etc .I just leave it in those areas myself and vacuum it up now and then and put more down .And I am about 95 % better then I was .As a matter of fact I no longer see any funky things in stool or urine anymore (knock on wood )
