This is so valid. The externals are deceptive; it's on the inside that we really know the truth. There's a book, 'Why Your Life Matters,' which talks about this same thing. It explores God and Jesus from a different angle, without the adornment of religion, but getting to the core of the message. If more people followed the message, they'd be closer to the divine, I think. Or at least realize that the divine is in them.
