I took licorice and ashwagha for a while and found it helpful in getting up the hill of recovery. Be warned that ashwaghanda can be benzo-like and I felt a LOT of anxiety when dropping the dose or coming off it. I no longer take adaptogens but they helped me get out of the house and back to work. A good recommendation is "5 days on, 2 days off" to avoid habituation and keep them working potently.
