Can you help explain this to me

Well I stink yes this I know. I get bullied I hear the comments. But yet those same bullies say hi to me every morning and try to talk to me like we're best friends. Same thing with this other guy we became friends. A month later he noticed I smelled sometimes he will crack jokes with his friends in code in front of me. But yet he still asks me if I want to hang out. Texts me everyday. I'm confused they make wise crack comments but yet they still make an effort to be my friend. Why
