Chitin Synthesis Inhibitors

Our program has been around for over 22 years and addresses candida from a safe, holistic perspective. It's based on science and working with patients for over 30 years. I've written over 100 articles based on the science. The Candida Plan corrects the fungal form back into the normal yeast form, boosts the appropriate immune response to keep candida in balance, detoxifies the body, and helps to restore normal tissue flora. The normal content of chitin in candida's cell wall is around 0-15% and the chitin is covered by layers of lipids and sugars. The people who sell the chitin synthesis inhibitors paint an inaccurate picture of chitin and candida to sell their product:

From the candidacleanser site - "it has now left your gut and does not have the challenge of your gut bacteria trying to eat it"

Bacteria don't eat candida. They inhibit it through numbers and peptides and by their effect on the immune system and cells of the intestinal tract. Some of the main Lactobacillus species of bacteria inhibit the growth of fungal candida in the body, but once antibiotics wipe out all of the bacteria within 5 to 7 days, there's nothing left to inhibit candida. Once fungal candida has established itself, it likewise inhibits the Lactobacillus species from growing back. Immune cells will "eat" candida, but fungal candida is very effective at evading and even manipulating immune responses. Their site uses a picture from the movie Alien to emotionally manipulate people. The gentleman who started this site has been a successful multilevel marketer and decided to start selling this product just last year, around July.

From the candidacleanser site - "However, that's not the real problem with Candida The real problem is the 'armour' of the fungus...The Candida fungus is protected from your immune system's attack by its cellular membrane. It's called: Chitin, or Chitin layer. Imagine the fungus is wearing a suit of armour that your immune system cannot punch through if it's weak. This is why Candida is so hard to get rid of!"

As stated above chitin normally makes up 0-15% of the candida cell wall membrane. That amount can increase under growth conditions up to about 35%. The main layers of candida's outer cell wall still remain the sugars and lipids, especially manna's, B-1,3 glucans, B-1,6 glucans, fibrils, and proteins - http://mmbr.asm.org/content/72/3/495.long

From the candidacleanser site - "The fungus can stay dormant in your body for years, and the moment you slip up with your diet even just for a single day, or maybe you just have a stressful week and your immune system takes a dip......then, the fungus explodes in growth, and your systemic Candida problem continues, and whats more...

Candida doesn't exist in a dormant state. The normal state is a yeast form that is beneficial to the body. Under conditions that are primarily created by the use of antibiotics, it can shift from it's beneficial yeast form to its potentially harmful fungal form. The main inhibitor of this transformation are the pH of the intestinal tract and the trillions of bacteria present. The immune system helps to regulate a balanced ecosystem within the body, but by itself, is not that effective against fungal candida.

From the candidacleanser site - "This is why special Candida diets or alternative treatments simply don't work, they only mask the symptoms, once a Candida fungal infection breaks out and latches it's teeth into your tissue, it's there for good unless the root of the problem is addressed..."

Candida doesn't have "teeth", but that fits with the scary picture from the movie Alien. The language and images from tho site are designed to create compulsive buying. As far as diet is concerned, most studies show that without following an appropriate diet, it is very difficult to eliminate fungal candida. This is true of medications, as well as natural substances.

From the candidacleanser site - "Moreover fungi are anaerobes, which means they don't use oxygen to survive. If they move round your body and colonize an area of your breast or prostate they set up anaerobic conditions."

Candida 101: Candida is a facultative anaerobe. It can exist under conditions where oxygen is absent and also where oxygen levels are high. If you look at the pictures of candida on the skin and in the mouth on the candida cleanser site, those are areas where oxygen levels are high. The pictures on their site contradict their own statements.

From the candidacleanser site - "...There's plenty of solutions out there for Candida, however, like I said earlier, they do not deal with the root of the problem because the Candida is covered by an armour-like chitin layer. The chitin layer is made of the same stuff that the hard exoskeletons of insects like cockroaches are made of! (picture of cockroach)

Candida is not covered by an armor-like chitin layer. The picture of the cockroach is designed to create emotional compulsive buying. Chitin synthesis inhibitors DON'T destroy the exoskeleton of insects, they are designed to prevent successive generations of insects from forming a chitin exoskeleton.

From the candidacleanser site - "The problem with medications such as azole anti fungals is that they place a great deal of stress on the kidneys and liver. The side effects include headaches and nausea and it's simply not practical to take these with any frequency as you will risk liver damage."

Many of the statements on this site don't make much sense when you consider the overall context of what's being offered. The put down medications, but then again, that's what chitin synthesis inhibitors are - a medication. Chitin synthesis inhibitors also cause headaches, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, depression, etc. Chitin synthesis inhibitors are a medication for animals, not humans.

From the candidacleanser site - "What Chitin synthesis inhibitor does, is it stops the Candida fungus from repairing its armour-like wall(chitin layer)"

The real effect of a chitin synthesis inhibitor lies in its ability to alter subsequent generations of fungal candida in their ability to produce chitin. It does not destroy chitin that is already present. That is the function of a different substance called a chitinase. Chitanases aren't available anywhere, because they are not recommended for human consumption. There minor levels of chitinase available in papaya seeds.

From the candidacleanser site - "Chitin synthesis inhibitor is an inert compound that works on Chitin only – no system in the human body uses chitin so it has zero affect on our vital systems. Chitin synthesis inhibitor is non toxic to humans, becuase humans do not produce chitin anywhere in their body. Taking this inhibitor will have the equivalent effect of taking flour or charcoal –– it will only affects the fungus.

The human body may not use "chitin" but it does use the substances that chitin is made of, like N-acetylglucosamine. Chitin synthesis inhibitors block N-acetylglucosamine and by blocking this substance, can affect intestinal cells and lead to leaky gut - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10467778

The majority of this information can be found in my article on Lufenuron, a brand name of chitin synthesis inhibitors - http://blogs.naturalnews.com/danger-chitin-synthesis-inhibitors/. The science is there.

Another website has been selling this product for years and the woman who runs the site had posted how it never was able to get rid of her husband's candida problem. They saw fungal candida as a problem that everyone would always have. That makes sense if you were taking a chitin synthesis inhibitor, as it has been shown to be ineffective against candida - http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/16008236.

Here's her quote: In my personal opinion, mycelial candidiasis is incurable but its symptoms can be at least temporarily (many Years) suppressed to a very bearable level by a combination of anti fungal medicines and taking care of the immune system. Improvement will be very slow in many cases - measured in years. My husband was on hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of anti fungal medicines (esp. IV LAmB) and he still has mucous membrane/skin candidiasis on "bad" days.

In the end, if you're approaching candid as something that needs to be eliminated from the body, then there is a misunderstanding about how fungal candida is formed, how it functions, and everything that goes into creating it and controlling it. By attempting to kill it in any way, you will create anti-fungal resistant infections and rebound infections.
