If you do a search (on top of the page) with "Spit test" as key words, you will get an array of reply as far as how unreliable that test is. I am no test expert. There are some better tests though (again a search with testing for candida will bring better answers than I can provide.) I found out from symptoms, a long time ago and recently a naturopath doing live blood test was able to see some yeast (not candida per se- but still most yeast should be treated the same and this forum might just as well be called the Yeast Forum, if candida was not the most famous of them all).
