Update: 6 mo on iodine
Here's my status so far after close to 6 months on iodine. Still currently at 200mg iodine, 600mcg selenium, 2 ATP cofactors, 8,000mg Vit C, 50mg zinc, fish oil, and glutathione (can't remember amount). Also taking turmeric. Benefits so far: no more breast tenderness, no pms, no menstral cramps, no seasonal allergies anymore and no
Body Odor (is that common benefit from iodine??). Still have a very large goiter that has not shrunk in size. I noticed that it swells larger when I ovulate. It seems in the last couple weeks it has grown the biggest I've ever seen. Only thing I've done different is added in nutrimeds thyroid and adrenal supplements. I've started to become exhausted after a tough workout whereas before I would feel great energy after working out so figured my adrenals were suffering, and wanted to experiment with thyroid glandular to see if that would help. I recently cut out dairy too (am gluten free already for years and no grains and barely any sugar). I do feel better not eating dairy, I find eating it once or twice a week I feel ok but I cannot have it every day.
I'm thinking of adding MSM to my protocol as well-thoughts on this?
Should I keep upping my
Iodine dose? I scour the internet night and day reading about goiter and everything I find says the cause is
Iodine deficiency but I would think id be sufficient by now? I will add I that I was born with this goiter, and during pregnancy my mother took fluoride pills (ahh I know! Docs told her it would give us great teeth, bah!). My twin sister had PCOS and I have always suffered from goiter/hypothyroid. Could the fluoride pills have caused the goiter? I did not know she took these until recently.
Sorry for the long post. Wondered what anyone's thoughts were on where to go from here with treating my goiter. I'm starting to panic as I don't know what to do anymore. Maybe I'm just being impatient.
