Re: What you need to know about iron deficiency

Thank you for such a listing all the symptoms that iron deficiency can cause. The symptoms you listed are right on mark.

I read something interesting is that anemia may be from o having fungus/ candida overgrowth . Fungus eats the iron in your blood. Any thoughts on that?

I had low ferritin/iron levels my ferritin was at 28 for over a year and half I had heart palpitations, wheezing, blurred vision, problems swallowing like I had hair ball in my throat, I also had a pounding heart. My heart would so hard that my entire body would shake I felt like my heart was going to explode. . Rapid heart rate or irregular heartbeat, in my case pounding heart and Premature ventricle contractions were a primary symptoms. The cause for the pounding is the heart is overworking to pump more blood to compensate for the lack of oxygen carried in your blood when you're anemia, I read this can lead to an enlarged heart or heart failure. So this was some scary news to me!
The heart pounded so hard that my entire diaphram was sore and so was my chest hurt I would use castor oil packs on my chest with hot water bottle. to ease the pain.
. . I went to see the cardiologist and she said, it was , PVC -Premature ventricle contractions. Since I typically don't believe that people just have health issues that spring out of thin air, I basically did the MD's job which is investigative research amd began to connect the dots on what the cause is, I think maybe the cardiologist was overloaded with work to do this.

I was sent to Respiratory specialist and he could not figure out why I had shortness of breath, it wasn't my lungs. The blood had oxygen in it.

I had severe weakness and fatigue, my mind was wandering and memory loss, hands and feet were tingling my joints were hurting.
I was sent to two Rheumatologist one told me to pump weights and gain some weight. I was to weak and had no appetite to do this.
So I now believe some people need way more iron/ ferritin and maybe even B12 than others, just because your in the standard range does not mean anything at all it is ! It can be based on individuals with different ancestors, genes, diets, life style etc.... so forget about the standard range my MD told me the standard range is how now longer really how doctors are thinking anymore.

My MD told me to take more iron or get on iron IV'S . I was taking iron supplement after a year and half my iron was still low .I started iron IV'S 2 times a week after a couple IV
I felt like I woke up from being dead, still cannot get over that I suffered on every level for so long with this problem needlessly, If you have low iron, anemia consider iron IV's
