Re: Serious gut problems, fatigue and illness at 22. Need advice?
When you suffer shocks, when you can feel your adrenaline kicking in, take a deep breath. Reduce your anxiety. Meditate. Seriously, meditate frequently. Find activities that allow you not to be anxious, especially ones where you can immerse your experience in full body movement. Eat a little yogurt or kefir with every meal, have a little when you go to bed. Just a little, like a spoonful.
Don't eat lots of saturated fat and refined sugar. I know you're already skipping the sugar. Don't eat any hydrogenated oils.
Sleep as best you can. Get to bed at the same time every night. Try to let your body wake when it wants to.
Practice cortisol-lowering "power poses". Look it up.
I think you need to heal your digestive tract and sympathetic nervous system at the same time. I think that's basically what "Adrenal Fatigue" is. Sounds like you've got something like it.
Anxiety is both psychological and physiological. It's not all in your mind, rest assured. Don't take it personally that others don't understand. But also understand that you can make substantial changes in your body with your mind.
I wouldn't supplement with anything but maybe a B complex and digestive enzymes. Maybe vitamin C. There are other things that can help some, but you can get better by addressing your sympathetic nervous system with intentional relaxation practice and your digestive issues with eating well and using yogurt.
I'm biased because it's these things that seemed to have helped me. I used to be a mess. I'm much better now.
Oh, you might try zinc. If your stool turns black, I think you needed it.
