String Lichens???
As I post these images I'm wondering if they even count as a valid lichen species, and is this forum the proper place to post them? If not then please accept my apologies for that and my lack of lichen lingo.
The fungal threads of previous posts have begun to "cultivate" algae/cyanobacteria nodes(?) at regular intervals giving them a different "beaded" look... I already didn't know what to make of the fungal threads, so now what to make of this developement??
I've been doing the laundry a long time and never saw these before...
They have been found stuck to towels, clothes(especially inside), on my person, and the floor. The loose threads, tassels or "fringe" still attached to fabrics also grow them.
They don't seem harmful and just may be beneficial(nematode, etc. trapping). In other words, they're a response to my infection, not THE infection.
"Lichens are symbiotic organisms of fungi and algae or cyanobacteria. Lichen-forming fungi synthesize a great variety of secondary metabolites, many of which are unique... several possible biological roles, including photoprotection against intense radiation, as well
as allelochemical, antiviral, antitumor, antibacterial, antiherbivore, and antioxidant action."

"Lichens are made up of two or more closely interacting organisms, a fungus, and one or more partners, called photobionts. The photobiont may be an alga and/or cyanobacteria, both of which can produce simple sugars by photosynthesis. In contrast, fungi are 'heterotrophic' and require an external source of food. The fungi build the structure of the lichen thallus, within which they provide conditions for a long term, stable association with their photobionts, the basis of the lichen symbiosis."

If these are just regular threads doing regular things, then somebody slap me and I'll sit down and shut up!

I think they must start out like this:
