Raw Honey; Miracle Food, Anupana
The miracle of the bee was revealed in the Quran, in surah (chapter) an-Nahl (The Bee). The benefits of honey are also mentioned in Christian and Hebrew texts. The bee is the only insect to produce a consumable food source for mankind.
According to Ayurveda Honey is considered an “anupana”, a vehicle or carrier for other herbs and spices, to increase their efficacy. By mixing herbs into honey, it enhances their medicinal qualities, and helps to reach deeper tissues.
The best honey is raw, unprocessed and not heat treated.
I often blend herbs and spices like turmeric, lavender, sage, rosemary, cinnamon, and of course black seed into honey. Please note that only organic herbs of the best quality should be used to do this. I usually use equal parts honey and herbs (cup for cup), but the amount of spice you use will vary (If your using good ground organic spices, a tbsp per cup of honey should do). When infusing black seed, I grind the seed and use 1:1 ratio.
Use a glass jar and fill with your organic herbs. Add honey and seal jar tightly. Store in a cool dry place. Herbs should infuse for at least a week, turning the jar over every other day.
