Thyroid Medications and Iodoral

I have been on a Synthetic thyroid for about 14 yrs. I also have been taking nascent Iodine for 5 months. I have recently heard that nascent Iodine is not strong enough to detox your thyroid and that I should be taking Iodoral instead. Any information concerning this will be greatly appreciated. Also, I have been told that it is not possible for me to get off the thyroid meds no matter how much thyroid detox I do. Anyone have any advice or experience with this? I started out taking
.88mcg, then went to 1.00mcg, and since 01/14 I take 1.25mcg.
