Magnesium threonate causing headache

Hello. I've been taking a mag oxide supplement for about a year. Two days ago I switched to mag l-threonate. I've been feeling like I'm detoxing. I've got a headache and a strong metal taste in my mouth. I've also been on 25 mg of Iodoral for about a year. I'm wondering if I should dial back the iodoral? Maybe I've been mag deficient all this time and don't need as much Iodine as I'd previously thought? Any thoughts or experiences would be most welcome. Thanks.
