Iodine and low platelet count?

As you can imagine, my general practitioner has been less than receptive about my use of Iodine and sea-salt. Even after my latest A1C fell from 7.1 to 6.4 she is less than impressed.

Last week I was in Cancun and made the mistake of trusting someone who said the ice was made with bottled water instead of tap water. I found out the hard way what the truth was. I lost 7 pounds in a 12 hour period. A trip to the ER and two full IV bags later the ER Doctor tells me I have a low platelet count and I needed to check in with my general practitioner.

I made that trip this morning and to make a long story short she is blaming my low platelet count on iodine! She again told me that I needed to stop taking it. I did a quick search on "low platelet" count on the Iodine forum and could find no smoking gun.

It seems it would make sense for her to allow me to heal for at least a week, gain the weight back and retest my platelet count but what do I know...I"m not a Doctor?
