I realize that no one meant to offend with this joke. But, using the word "retardment" is using people with intellectual disabilities as a point of ridicule. It hurts so much when you have someone in your family who is intellectually disabled to have them (or their condition) used as a punchline. This joke would be just as funny if you just rewrote it to eliminate that reference. This is not censorship, just a simple request to be kind and not make jokes that hurt people.
