Oil pulling - saliva??

Hi all,
I just bought coconut oil and tried op this morning but the oil dissolved quickly and I had so much saliva in my mouth I needed to spit every 10 seconds and eventually after about 2 minutes everything had come out.
My dentist has told me previously that I seem to have excess amounts of saliva (which he is happy about) but does that mean I can't op?
Any ideas?
