Glutamate toxicity weight gain
I am going through benzo withdrawal and am gaining massive amounts of weight, I do not believe it is cortisol as that tested normal (24 hour urine test, cannot get saliva test). I also have tried cortisol lowering supplements and no help. I believe it is glutamate toxicity. I have gained over fifty
pounds in nine months of withdrawal. It's not even slowing down. I am not even down to 80% of my starting dose yet. Please can someone give be advice on what I can take to help? I have tried GABA, ashwagandha, many things, with no discernible effect. Please, the weight gain is absolutely intolerable and nothing I do, diet, exercise, helps, it only seems to stress my body into gaining more weight,
I do not have hypothyroidism (ft3 and ft4 are normal, rt3 is low). I probably have some sort of adrenal fatigue though I am making cortisol. My body is acting like it is in constant survival mode and I don't know what I can do. I am tapering very very slowly, my benzo. The weight gain all started with withdrawal so I know it's something withdrawal is doing to my body.
I also go to acupuncture but so far no results and have been for a few months now.
