Re: Your personal signs of adrenal fatigue. Where r u coming from what did u change to
Lam's site is very informative - he describes the symptomatic journey of adrenal/hormonal imbalances.
He's not anti-supplements - as like you say he sells them himself.
In his book he details it better to say that depending on your adrenal health depends on what supplements are best to use.
Generally if it's mild 'AF' then a person can handle supplements well - and he states those with more severe/complex endocrine imbalances can experience adverse and/or paradoxical reactions to supplements.
If you have the funds you could go through a consult with him - it could turn out to be quite a lot of money to have him 'hold your hand' through the process of trying to get well.
The user Sherpa on here bought Dr Lam's book and followed recommendations from that and made wonderful progress (worth reading his posts - he did some wonderful follow-up posts on his general protocol)
I bought Dr Lam's book and it was really informative (much like his articles) - but more detailed - it's worth a read to understand the general function of the endocrine system to better understand your symptoms and what your main issues are.
The endocrine system is very complex but Lam gives a good overview. I would recommend researching further than Dr Lam to broaden your knowledge.
It helps to understand the glands, what hormones they produce, what those hormones do, what nutrients are needed for their production, what symptoms of excess and deficiency of those hormones are - to better understand what your own symptoms mean.
My reason for losing weight could be a totally different reason than yourself for losing weight for example so it's very difficult to take advice from anyone on what symptoms mean and how to treat them.
You have to look at the 'whole' picture of your symptoms, also which symptoms started, and which symptoms followed, which symptoms got worse...to know what those symptoms indicate in terms of what is the root cause of your illness.
If your English is struggling with his articles - maybe he offers his book in German?
I think many women suffer more with AF than men is due to the adrenals producing also progesterone and estrogen when the ovaries go into menopause.
If the ovaries and not performing optimally in a pre-menopausal woman the woman won't know it because her adrenals take-over the job of producing hormones to keep menstruation cycles working well.
Only when the adrenals have been doing that for a while, other hormones the adrenals should produce are under-produced in favour of sex hormone production, and then the woman feels that she has adrenal gland problems, when really, in many scenarios, the ovaries are the root cause of the adrenal issues/symptoms.
Or likewise, the thyroid could be under-producing hormones thus causing a 'down regulated' response of the ovaries and adrenals.
Dr Lam calls this co-ordination of the glands the OAT-axis.
So knowing which gland really is the root cause of apparent adrenal symptoms is the hard part of the journey in understanding how to start to heal.
Once you know which gland is under-functioning, then you have to ask why!
From that point you can begin to really heal and not be on supplements or medications for life.
