I pretty much did the same thing about a year ago.
I cured it by exercising and taking whey protein supplements. I was eating horribly at the same time though, so it never completely went away. I had great days and slightly off days-- it wasn't very bad during this regimen.
It came back in august but I didn't realize why until a few months ago. Apparently, I'm allergic to peanuts, and August is the month that I was eating packs of peanuts about 2-3 times a day, along with peanut butter and peanut butter filled crackers.
That's the only thing that changed in August, so that's the most likely explanation as to why it came back.
