I have medullary sponge kidneys. History of infections and stones. I've had sound wave lithotripsey once about 6 years ago. I was recently told I have a UTI. CT shows I have MANY stones in both kidneys. Most measure 3 to 7 mm The largest is in the lower pole of the left kidney and measures up to 9 mm. I have a 5 mm stone in the right ureter . And a 7 mm stone in left ureterer causing moderate obstruction. In the past I believe I was told my stones were calcium. I tend to want to do everything naturally, but can I feasible EVER dissolve (with stone dissolving protocol) stones that big? Can I feasible ever PASS stones that big? If I do need surgery, I am wondering about a procedure I have recently learned about, called Ureteroscopic holmium Laser Papillotomy. A flexible ureteroscope is used. It dissolves the stones as opposed to fragmenting them. Has anyone ever heard of this? If anyone out there could answer any of my questions, or give me any advice, guidance, I would greatly appreciate it. This seems very complicated, the more I learn about it. Apparently this "disease" of MSK has with it, an ongoing biofilm so that one always has bacteria in them and not able to resolve it. It resides in the stones. Also, MSK people have metabolic disorders which cause the stones to begin with , and of course, with the shape of the kidneysm the kidneys cannot filter stuff out. I do NOT want to end up with worse kidney problems, and really want to ultimately work on healing my kidneys to want ever degree I can. Has anyone ever cured this?? Feedback please! Thank you.
