Re: Doc, do you cut these scriptures out of your Bible?

I know that Romans 7:14-25 is debatable. Some feel Paul the apostle is describing himself before being born again even though he writes it down after his born again experience. This may be the case, or he may be describing himself as he was when he first came to Christ. When we come to Christ we come as we are in an unregenerate state. We must allow the Holy Spirit to do His work of regeneration in us as Paul does go on to describe at the end of the chapter and on into the next chapter. Paul is making it clear that Jesus delivers the born again person and the Holy Spirit regenerates us. If we are born again we must go through this process. It is a process, so yes, it does take time for most of us. Few get instant deliverance from addictions etc. We do battle. Thank God for grace, but it is not a license to sin. We cannot just stay in the unregenerate state described in Romans 7 and be happy with it, not seeking the Holy Spirit to regenerate us. If there is no regeneration, if there is no new creature in Christ, I doubt that we are truly born again. I feel Paul Washer brings out some good points for all of us to examine ourselves to make sure we are in the faith.

I don't know anything about Washer's gift of discernment so I can't comment there.
