Can hair grow back after long period of iron deficiency?

Hi,
I've had iron deficiency for about 5 years and I finally got iron injections.
I've lost an enormous amount of hair in those 5 years. I used to have very thick hair and now it's almost nothing and its extremely thin.
My question is, can all my hair grow back after being low in iron for so many years?

Does anybody have experience with this?
