Re: Sleep disturbances are correlated with decreased morning awakening salivary cortisol

Interesting, TC. We all know correlation isn't causation. I'm wondering about UNDERLYING causes of elevated nighttime cortisol, or glutamate or adrenaline besides the common cause of hypos. Systemic inflammation? Infection? Allergies in food or environment? Stealth viruses as Dr. Lam suggested? The stressors pile on and then have to be disentangled.

TC--do you keep a sleep log? Have you noticed ANY broad patterns to your insomnia

Mine for 5 months now is 4-7 good days followed by 1-3 bad days. NOTHING I do or take or don't take alters this, at best adds or subtracts a few hours here or there. I am definitely leaning towards going parasympathetic, eliminating common food stressors (gluten, casein), and tinkering with FEWER not more herbs, and supplements, giving my body and brain less to rebalance.
