potassium
Iodide is only about 24% by weight of potassium.
If the goal is to satisfy the body's need of potassium, the
Iodide salt is not the way to go for me. I would use the chloride salt KCl, the body tolerates chloride quite well. In the past 2 days I've ingested 20 grams of KCl, which is 52% potassium, meaning, I have taken in an additional 10 grams of potassium. There is an ice storm here as you know, I go outside and the cold doesn't bother me a bit. It is as if my cells are working how they should be
There is such a thing as too much iodide. The body only really needs very little.
For maintenance doses, a few knowledgeable MD's have recommended that 50 milligrams is about the correct amount.
Still, it is probably ok to ingest larger amounts of
Iodide for most people, in the short term to detox heavy metals, as Drs. Brownstein and Flechas have taught.
I look at PIMA(TM) syrup's daily dose of about 1.2 grams. This suggests such an amount is tolerated in the short term by most people. Another thing going for
Iodine is its 100 year history of documented safe use.
