Modified Citrus Pectin and Alginate with the AC protocol

Has anyone tried modified citrus pectin (mcp) and alginate with the AC protocol? The company that makes the MCP claims that it can detox many heavy metals, including mercury (150% decrease in mercury after consuming 15g/day of mcp over a month in their study). I'm wondering how the mechanism of mcp works and whether it actually pulls mercury out of tissues like ALA or just binds to mercury in the bloodstream.

Is there any possibility of mcp being harmful during the AC protocol? Also, some people say to take alginate while on the AC protocol to ensure that the chelated mercury doesn't recirculate once its in the small intestine. Is this even necessary since I thought DMSA binds strongly to mercury and does not let it go?
