Re: L-Tryptophan, 5-HTP, Tyrosine

Tyrosine, Phenylalanine (& mucuna puriens (L-Dopa)) feed the pathway that produces catecholamine neurotransmisters, including dopamine, norepinephrine, ephinephrine (adrenaline). These would be for people like me who have ADD and cat. depression.

There are other minerals and vitamins that are used to make the cats.

I've been taking them for many years. For several years they enabled me to reduce my dose of Adderal for ADD. After 1. 75 yrs of Cutler protocol heavy metal detox, my doctor said I probably don't need the medication. Since then I've just been taking the supplements with decent results. Occasionally I could use a tiny dose of adderall or similar.

L Tryp and 5HTP provide support for production of serotonin, melatonin, etc.

I like Dr Daniel Amen's books on the use of such supplements, for example Change Your Brain, Change Your Body. That is for those who have weight problems but that does not seem to be you. You might check out Change Your Brain Change Your Life, or if you are Christian, Healing the Hardware of the Soul.
