Schizophrenia symptoms gone with supplements!

I posted a while back about my son. He has now been off medications for almost 6 weeks and is doing great. He has had schizophrenia for 10 years, since he was 16 years old. I would like to post the supplements that we have found essential for him, although perhaps other people can get along without some of these supplements, I think it is best to use them all at first if you want to try them, and then try lowering the amounts after you are feeling well.

There are 3 forms of niacin that you can take: regular niacin, which causes a flush, but if you build up to 2 or more grams 3 times a day, you don't flush much. Niacinamide can be taken up to about 4 grams a day, but higher than that and nausea starts. Hexanicotinate is more expensive, but it is a no flush niacin that can be taken in the higher doses. Make sure to check the label to see how much actual niacin each capsule has because they are part inositol.


some form of niacin: 1-3 grams each meal
magnesium 200-400 mg each meal
Vitamin C 1-2 grams each meal
pantothenic acid 1-2 grams each meal

A good multivitamin each day
B6 200 mg or P5P 100 mg each day
B12 5000 mcg each day
methylfolate or folinic acid 5 mg each day.

Once you get your doses up high enough, it only takes a few days for symptoms to start going away. My son heard voices even while on medication so he waited until the voices were going away before he started gradually lowering his medication. ( he took abilify)

I believe that this would also work for people who are bipolar, but in the depressed stage they should use niacin and not niacinamide or hexanicotinate.
