Re: Acid Reflux

Samwise,
Since I do not have time to watch Dr. oz every day, I tape his shows and watch them in a row like a marathon when I have extra time. I would like to share some information on a recent show about acid reflux. It happens when the muscle does not close tightly so stomach acid leaks out. When we sleep at night, our bodies produce more melatonin, which makes this muscle close tightly (so our sleep will not be disturbed by acid reflux). However, if you are low on melatonin, this muscle will not close tightly.

So, the recommended treatment to stop acid reflux is to take 3mg of melatonin 2 hours before bedtime every night. I wanted to try this since I have a hard time falling asleep at night.

If you already have acid reflux, you can relieve it by mixing 1 tablespoon of baking soda in 1/2 cup of water. It is good to drink this every day to make your body more alkaline than acidic, anyway.

You can try both of these methods to see if it improves your acid reflux AND your lips.
