Re: Muru's story - trigger warning - support and comments appreciated

Muru, I am very sorry that you were harmed by a "trusted" adult and that you're experiencing flashbacks of the event. The fear and shame that a "trusted" adult creates in a child when they commit these crimes is indescribable.

When your mother took you to the doctor after the assault, what was done? Did this subject ever come up with your parents, afterwards?

Even though the molestation took place, years ago, I would strongly urge you to report it and to engage in some strong counseling therapy, ASAP.

Since this is your first time posting, I will also gently caution you about posting details of the flashbacks on this forum, or any other. Save those details for your counselor and personal journal. Unfortunately, there are some people who go online just to read the details of another person's misery (especially, an experience of molestation) that do not have any other motive than personal entertainment.

Having typed that, flashbacks are a symptom of post traumatic stress disorder (PSTD), and this can surface at any time after any traumatic event, whether it's a molestation by a "trusted" adult, or witnessing a fatal car accident. A trained and licensed professional counselor that specializes in trauma can assist people in processing their experiences, and putting them into their proper place.

BlueRose often posts a website for victims of sexual assault and abuse to visit, and that site is http://www.rainn.org.
Or, you can contact your local rape hotline to get more information on steps that you can take to recover and heal.

Childhood traumas can cause a host of issues that we'll carry throughout our lives unless we take steps to process them, and recover from them. Please, take those steps - you do not have to be defined by what one sick individual did to you.

A couple of other sites that you may wish to visit are:
http://www.180rule.com

http://www.famiyarrested.com

My very best wishes to you on your journey of recovery.
