Sore throat and iodine?

I started supplementing with Lugols for the past 2 months. 2 weeks ago i developed a sore throat but just on the right side of my throat and it has not gone away. the soreness is right near the adams apple and hurts a little when i swallow food or twist my neck and swallow. could this be related to the iodine? i have since stopped taking Iodine just until the soreness goes away, could i have caused a problem that wasnt there by supplementing?
