Re: there are many safe herbs that induce menses
There are several things that can be done 'more' naturally to avoid pregnancy. I will first mention some obvious ones for the sake of thoroughness, such as abstinence, condomns, diva cup for cervix, diaphragm, and rhythmm method with learning your cycle. But beyond these well known methods, therd are a few others, some proven, some still in research.
A few herbs have been used for decades or even longer by the Native Indians, Chinese, and the nation of India in the east. Several seem to have ample amounts of research and practical application, while others may have side effects. Other posts here have mentioned wild carrot seeds, which can help prevent pregnancy but may have long term side effects and potentially harm a fertilized egg.(Explanation of this later.)
Hemp seeds have been known to reduce sperm count in rat studies by 50% or more, indicating higher doses may provide further results more promising. A few others may offer some protection, but I will focus on three main alternatives next.
Lemon juice and pulp inserted into the vagina can act as a spermicide killing the sperm on contact. May be slightly acidic and irritating at first, but subsides.
In most ling term resesrch, the herb Neem seems to offer a two fold protection. It may even work ingesting it as a woman desiring to prevent pregnancy, but safer and more effectively used in men and topically. Indian, far east, have used this herb for decades and ongoing research suggests it can cause infertility in males when taken by them. Some herbs may cause permenant infertility, but preliminary findings may suggest Neem does not, only while ingesting. Secondly using Neem oil on the penis or inserted in the vagina can also be a spermicide, and potentially offer sdditional viral protection. However, the only safe disease prevention is abstinence or one partner for life.
And lastly, there is a new possibility for male birth control using bio-identical testosterone. I'm referring to pharmacy made, but plant derived from either soy or wild yam. As a doctor, I had my colleague put me on a high quality bio-identical made from wild yam due to my own low T. My sex drive shot through the roof, but there is a fascinating side benefit if you are wanting to prevent. The pituitary in the brain recognizes external testosterone and shuts off production of LH, or leutenizing hormone. Mine fell to around 0.7. This csuses the testicles to stop producing both testosterone and sperm while on the bio. I took it for about two years, no babies, went off, got wife pregnant few months later. My OBGYN and hormone optimization MD expert buddy was right when he told me it is off the record make b.c.
Now, positionally, as a scientist and a believer, I must emphatically, yet politely disagree with the blob tissue excuse for abortative herbs and procedures. Scientifically it has been proven that once an egg is fertilized, the embryo has it's own DNA and is in fact a new life that will have a heartbeat in just a couple weeks! This is why I do not mind preventative plans, as long as they do not include leathal poison to the embryo or prevent attachment to the uterus as most drug bc's do. Life begins at conception, this isn't religion, but pure science. Let's be honest as adults and call it killing an unborn baby for the sake of convenience, in which we all will be accountable some day.
