Uva ursi for kidney stones ?

Hey there!
My dad has a kidney stone right now, feeling a sharp pain in the kidney. How can I help him ? Is it alright for him to take uva ursi ? I've read that it can make things worse if one has kidney insufficiency as my dad has...?
