Potassium/Sodium/Magnesium balance
Like everything in nutrition, magnesium, potassium, calcium and sodium have appropriate ratios that must be maintained for optimal health.
With all the buzz about magnesium supplementaion, as well as pro-salt movement growing (Brownstein etc), I wonder if potassium is being neglected.
Can the supplementation with larger doses of magesium (400mg+) and sodium (1/2 teaspoon sealsalt) cause a artifical imbalance in the potassium ratio?
Potassium is know to treat many conditions and the extremely low limit that the FDA has placed on supplements (99mg) is known to be abysally inadequate.
I do green
juicing daily so I know I am getting some potassium but I wonder if it is enough considering I supplement mag and salt. I know sweating in my sauna is known to deplete potassium.
I am wondering if rather than supplementing with isolated minerals it is time to shift to a broad spectrum balanced mineral supplement, or whole food minerals.
I have noticed the multi-mineral complexes tend to be quite expensive compared to isolated mineral.
