I agree with you that drugging for life benefits nobody. I studied
under a professor of economics at the University of Washington many years ago
who got funding from the state (his wife was a state senator at the time) to do
a study on whether to drug or incarcerate. He was a right wing
conservative and of course his "study" found that it was much cheaper
to the state to drug the loonies than it was to incarcerate them. So, with
his wife's power in the legislature that's what has been done in Washington
State to this day.
Here is a link to a book by one Jane Alexander who had schizophrenia and many
other disorders and who was mentally incarcerated and drugged for them.
When she got out of the loony farm she eventually quit all drugs and cured
herself from all of her disorders with meditation alone. She would
meditate for ten and twelve hours at a time. She was dedicated, and hasn't
taken any drugs since she quit.
