I use a block of (shaving) alum for deodorant: wet it a little and rub over your armpit. Keeps you fresh for at least a day, but if need be for even longer. Until you wash it off of course.

Alum doesn't stop you sweating, it just kills the bacteria that cause the smell.

Also easy to take on a plane!

If you smell even though you put on deodorant, than that's bromide: I used to smell something awful from under my armpits. My smell has by now reduced by about 1/2. I still sometimes smell the bromide, but a salt push will get rid of it. I still salt push every day, several times a day.
