Re: Next move
grizz, i love your enthusiasm and dedication to this cause. allow me to offer just a little fine tuning.
nascent, particularly john brookshires magnascent, is the best
Iodine supplement around. it doesnt take nearly as much to be quite effective. combining magnascent and
SSKI covers everything in spades.
there is plenty of mystery still with regard to iosupping, mostly due to lack of formal research. i also like to invoke the
Iodine docs as much as possible, but they have their own professional "limits". one of the things that doc brownstein says is what you said about needing both
Iodine and iodide. this is true but lets see how that works.
you are are never going to find free iodine for ingestion in nature. potassium
Iodide is the perfect molecule for food. it is put in all cat and dog food made in this country. without this bare minimum of fortification, these animals would never survive long on that diet.
elemental iodine is mostly therapeutic, especially in large amounts. once in the body, any form of iodine will go through chemical changes. the body provides for turning iodine to
Iodide and vice versa. if youre making plenty of stomach acid and take plain
SSKI on an empty stomach you can deliver a lot of elemental iodine to the bloodstream. it can upset your stomach.
so there are two obstacles that got in the way of the docs using
Iodide only. one was the fact that you cant treat patients today with things that cause a lot of discomfort, unless of course you scare them to death with cancer or something. taking
SSKI on an empty stomach would not have been an option in the amounts needed. in fact, they tried to mitigate the discomfort that a measly 50mg of
Lugols was causing to some by creating a pill form instead.
the second obstacle was the MD education, protection of license, fear of getting too experimental which prevented them from prescribing large doses. IOW, dr brownstein would have found much more success using SSKI alone if he had prescribed much larger doses.
i believe in doing things which are sustainable. i stick mostly to DIY things for this reason. its also how i came to make my own iodine supplements. SSKI 2% with magnets embodies all the best of everything i have learned about iodine supplementation. with it, i am attempting to duplicate the SSKI/Magnascent combination. its not the same, but its close enough to make the effort worthwhile. if i had magnascent i would take it every day. i like that little boost it gives. but the best is also expensive. if the cost is no object or the need critical(cancer, painful fbd, etc), magnascent should really be part of the daily supplement routine.
nonia is doin it right.
