Re: leave the cipro for
Ok yes floroquinolines are bad for some and in fact, I cannot take them. However, I know MANY while in the U.S., Burma, Nepal and India who have and had no problem with them whatsoever and it saved their lives.
And yes, always you will want to try herbs and other benign medicines first. I am not a Big Pharma fan and never want to take medications if I don't have to. And, in fact, Big Pharma is evil until you see your colleague an hour away from death due to dehydration on the side of a mountain 13,000 ft up. Garlic and Ginger don't work so well at that point. And side effects from strong ABs don't seem so bad then either. It's not much better in the valleys by the way.
Critical thinking is imperative here. When you travel to places like this you get your
vaccinations (appropriate to whatever region you will be traveling to and what activity you will be taking part in), bring antimalerial,
Antibiotics and antifungal medications JUST IN CASE and hope you don't have to use them. If you know you are allergic to floroquinolines or sulfur drugs, etc you can get substitutes.
