Apples by MH
Today the boys and I picked apples from 1 fair size tree. A red delicious apple tree that maybe 200 apples had already fallen off.
I climbed the tree and shook it and we picked up 35 gallons. That along with the apples I picked up the other day, I hope to have about 20 gallons of apple juice...
In reality a person could have all the free juice they ever wanted, when you drive in the country, you find many older homes where past people plated trees and the younger generation there does nothing with the apples, pears, etc.....and more than willing to give them to anyone that ask.
I soak the fruit for 48 hours in cold water, any works, etc. have the chance to expel them selves, otherwise in the juicer it goes....REAL DEAL just as though you picked it off the tree and ate it as God intended we eat.
Only us modern day civilized types can juice it and freeze it and enjoy it all winter long...
I am no prepper so to say, but I think ahead...."IF" we had a disaster and no electric for a very long time---I have enough canning jars to quickly can everything in the freezers and try to make it last as long as possible if the days ever come that we are on our own...A person should always keep 50-100 pounds of raw sugar on hand and plenty of non perishable foods and a wood burning cook stove. Having ponds loaded with fish and ample pet bunnies and chickens running loose insures no one should go hungry...JUST "N" CASE..
Fresh Juice is just yummy...
After the apples, the next time I juice will be the January oranges....can't wait to try out the new fancy orange juicer.
