theraneem shampoo and conditioner
I've suffered from dandruff since a teenager, and a dermatologist diagnosed it a SD once when it got really bad.
I've pretty much used a dandruff shampoo every other day ever since. If I skip an extra day, my head gets itchy. I've switched back and forth between coal tar and selenium sulfide types. Salicylic acid shampoos never did squat for me.
There's a couple of products that have worked for me that I haven't seen anyone mention here, so I wanted to share them. I'll do them in separate posts.
Now and then I've given "natural" dandruff shampoos a try, various herbal types, pine tar, etc. None of them ever worked until a couple years ago I found one that actually worked for me. Its not actually even sold as a dandruff shampoo, and doesn't mention the word dandruff anywhere on the label though it does say "formulated for scalp relief".
Anyway, this is Theraneem Scalp Therape. I find I can use this and it controls my dandruff as well as the coal tar or selenium sulfide products. I use both the shampoo and conditioner, so I suppose I'm not distinguishing between which one works, but they have the same herbs going on, so perhaps it's either.
If you decide to try it, make sure you get the "Scalp Therape" version. They have a couple other versions, like "moisture therape", and the labels look almost the same so it is easy to grab the wrong one.
I don't really know what it is in this that works for me. I've tried a few of the herbs it contains on the dermatitis on my face, including neem, peppermint, and rosemary with no luck.
