Gas mask to help protect from indoor environmental air toxins/allergies?

i suffer from alot of allergies and i also believe i may have molds in my home, in addition to other environmental toxins like dusts and etc. one particular room smells musty and it seems dangerous. i have no ability to fix the root of the problem but i was wondering what anyone might think of a band-aid solution to using a gas mask? lol...

it sounds ridiculous i guess, but i noticed gas masks are super cheap. like 10 bucks on ebay for a variety of types. i always get sick when the heater comes on. it makes me nauseus and sometimes i cannot even sleep. since the winter months are coming and heat is going to be necessary, i was wondering what people thought about the idea of wearing a gas mask lol. do you think this would work at all? to just wear it for a few hours during the time the heater kicks on? or whenever theres toxic smells? is it dangerous or a health risk on its own to wear a gas mask? i really have no idea.

thanks for any ideas.. i realize this is probably a realy bizarre idea, but it seems like it could help a bit for me!
