Medications that finally stopped my seborrheic dermatitis

Hello -- I came to this forum years ago to search for help with my Seborrheic Dermatitis and wanted to post what finally worked:

1) sulfacetamide sodium 10% sulfur 5% Lotion (Ascend Laboratories), like a mask
2) selenium sulfide 2.5% (lotion), a shampoo
3) cutting out added Sugar in all forms

I had SD at my scalp/hairline, between eyes, on eyebrows, on chin spreading to neck. YEARS! After years of failed prescriptions: ketaconazole (oral/topical), elidel, desonide, Alcortin A, countless otc natural and man-made. I refused to be on steroids the rest of my life and ASKED my dermatologist for these prescriptions because I had found a medical publication that had a list of medicines for SD, the above 2 were one of the few I had not tried yet.

The elimination of Sugar was my own addition as I found it made a dramatic difference even before I tried the new medications -- we know that SD is a yeast/fungal problem and sugars/excessive carbs are fuel for these pathogens so I continue to watch my diet.

I highly recommend you try the above if you do not want to be dependent on steroids and have had no success with the above medications that failed me.

I also use handmade sulfur soaps that I find on Etsy to wash my face throughout the day.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU :)
