I've read over and over through my research to take the B's together as they all work synergistically, and like you said - having just one, will create imbalance in others.
Taking a (good quality) B complex alongside a higher dose B5/Pantethine is what i've always done.
I'd recommend 'B-Right' by Jarrows - the only b complex i could find that wasn't filled with synthetic precursors. Also it contains methylfolate. Great value for the money.
