cheilitis or herpes? please help :(

i am new to this forum but it seems to be a very helpful place. i have been having an issue with my lips for the last two months and i was hoping to get some advice. in june, my lips split in both corners. i have had issues with angular cheilitis a few times in past winters, but never in the summer. the lip border tingled, and i felt little bumps that i couldnt see all along my lips, and they felt like sandpaper when i rubbed my lips together. then, the corners of my lips got red splotchy marks, which looked like a rash/dermatitis. then, those splotches began to leak a clear fluid, and the next morning they were crusted over with a honey colored crust. the doctor prescribed fluocinonide, a steriod, which i used for 2 weeks. after about 4 days without it, the cycle started all over again. i went to the derm again and she thinks it sounds like herpes because of the tingling, but i dont have anything that looks like cold sores. i really think it has something to do with a fungus, or candida, from what ive read on the internet. so she gave me oxistat, which is an anti fungal. i was just wondering if anyone can shed some light. does this sound like something that will be cleared up with an anti fungal, or does it sound like herpes? i would appreciate any help!
