Goo in eyes

I have had a lot of long stringy goo in my eyes for a long time now. It´s never ending anylonger. It is usually several inches long and I clear my eyes constantly. I also have burning pain in my eyes constantly, but the slimy goo has never beecn this severe before. It is always clear. Has anyone any idea as to what this could be?
