Re: 50 Day Water Fast
Up to 40 days unsupervised would be the recommended max' and even then you have to know how to properly conduct one.
After day 40 to 45 there is the very real risk of electrolyte deficiencies, in addition to skeletal muscle wastage, where some amino-acids are cataboloized as fuel during protein-sparing for glucose to feed the brain and some other organs. This deficiency can cause cardiac arrest or even heart failure.
The safety and benefits of a fast are entirely dependent on the quality of your food reserves (therefore the pre-fast diet) and the fasts conduct throughout its length.
Water-fasting is not ideal for weightloss because of the significant reduction in the metabolic rate that it brings about.
Avoiding post fast unwanted weight-gain, adhere to a Nutritarian way of eating. If you resume your old eating habits, your fast will have been in vain as your unwanted
pounds will just return.
