I did the same thing. I completely avoided letting water touch my lips while leaving them alone. So washing off the build up while showering wouldn't count as "leaving them alone" to me.

But, saying that leaving them alone is "the only way" to cure EC is demonstrably false. There have been much more people seeing great progress or even getting healed when not leaving them alone but instead constantly moisturizing them and not causing any trauma.
