Re: HPV Vaccine: What You Need to Know Today

Good article but should go into more details because vaccine industry shrills have already responded with comments that are misleading. Here is something very pertinent that people should know:

-At present there are no significant data showing that either Gardasil or Cervarix (GlaxoSmithKline) can prevent any type of cervical cancer since the testing period employed was too short to evaluate long-term benefits of HPV vaccination. The longest follow-up data from phase II trials for Gardasil and Cervarix are 5 and 8.4 years, respectively, while invasive cervical cancer takes up to 20 -40 years to develop from the time of acquisition of HPV infection.

- Cumulatively, the list of serious adverse reactions related to HPV vaccination worldwide includes deaths, convulsions, paraesthesia, paralysis, Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), transverse myelitis, facial palsy, chronic fatigue syndrome, anaphylaxis, autoimmune disorders, deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolisms, and cervical cancers.

Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine policy and evidence-based medicine: Are they at odds?

- the basis is wrong. HPV by itself does not cause cervical cancer. Evidence shows it takes a combination, or co-infections

- multiple viruses or virus/bacteria combinations to cause cervical cancer. Examples include Epstein Bar virus, HIV, and Chlamydia, along with HPV.

-Birth control pills and other hormonal drugs also increase the risk of HPV.

- The CDC website states that the human body's immune system clears HPV within two years, 90 percent of the time (70 percent in one year). Without the vaccine.

-The fact that most so-called pre-cancerous lesions clear on their own is ignored

-The fact cervical cancer is nearly eradicated in most developed countries is ignored

-Local oncogenic HPV type prevalence either not determined or ignored

-Manufacturers are allowed to use questionable endpoints during clinical trials

-Manufacturers do not use inert substances as placebos/control solutions during trials

-FDA fas-track approval despite HPV vaccines not meeting criteria for fast-tracking

-HPV infections are morphed into ‘inevitable cancer threats’

-Public relations campaigns to create unwarranted fear of cervical cancer death

-As with the recent removal of CDC information sheet on SV40 and the polio connection has been removed from the CDC website, information in regards to HPV prior to the development and launch of Gardasil has slowly been removed from the CDC website as more people access it. The information pretty much stated how HPV WAS NOT a serious concern and the fact that the best way to prevent any issue with it was regular pap smears and removal of genital warts but the info also stated that 90-95% of HPV cleared on its own within a year without intervention.

If you've fallen for Merck PR campaign and you are completely freaked out about contracting HPV like some posters on other sites are(Huffington Post, Salon, AlterNet) these sites that have health journalist who take their orders from the CDC, first go to VASERS and read the number of adverse effects and deaths. Remember Merck didn't remove Vioxx until over 50,000 people died so may be that's the magic number. Than go to SaneVax an read the stories of young girls and children whose lives have been ruined by this drug. If you still want to submit your child to this always remember: You don't get a do over.
