Re: Which zapper???
Nicely presented.
TENS pads can have their uses. I even used some last night myself. I was working out in some deep grass and brush and in the process received two bites on my right calf. They definitely appeared to be spider bites.
Both places were very red and swollen with pus bubbles at the surface. I placed the positive TENS pad ( 2 x 2 ) over 1 bite and the negative pad on the opposite side of the leg, away from either bite mark. Using the CC2, I zapped for 1 hour straight while I watched part of Silver Streak on late night TV.
Noticeable, was that the intensity was nowhere near as strong as when the copper pads and paddles are used, but that would be expected. The copper paddles and pads provide almost 25 to 30 square
inches of positive contact area where the TENS pads only provide 4 square
inches of positive contact area.
Anyhow, the TENS pads do work acceptably for direct exposure to a small area.
I am reasonably knowledgeable on electrodes as I was a holter monitor technician and took graduate courses in BioMedical engineering. I also keep up to date.
I have many dozens of different brands, types, and types of TENS pads, as well as other electrodes in my laboratory.
I will state that since I have been researching electrodes for zapping for the last 12 years, I have not found anything that reasonably matches copper paddles and pads covered with 1 layer of Scott white Rags on a Roll paper towels, soaked in a good strong salt water solution.
I hope to post some updated research in the near future that quantifies the difference.
